Would Mr Low Thia Khiang please Educate Wong Kan Seng?
Yesterday (21.April.2008) from the public gallery of Parliament House, I witnessed this during the JI COI session:
Mr. Low Thia Khiang Workers' Party member of Hougang SMC, asked Wong Kan Seng weather is he aware of a public suspicion that Mas Selamat Ke-Lari had actually died in ISD's custody. Wong Kan Seng pulled a fast one on Mr. Low by quickly returning the following question:
I am displeased that Wong Kan Seng got away with that. What I would love to see Mr. Low Thia Khiang Educate the arrogant PAp DPM Wong Kan Seng is this basic, which Million Dollar Wong don't seems to know:
As the member of parliament for Hougang Mr. Low is entitled to question Wong Kan Seng in the parliament as DPM and Minister for MHA regarding any public suspicion, it is the liability of Wong to answer in satisfaction of such public suspicion. That has nothing to do with the personal opinion of member of Hougang Mr. Low who raised it on behalf of people of Hougang. When the public does not trust the MHA, Minister for MHA have the duty to clear the doubt and just answer the question raised, and strictly should not be able to avoid that, using the irrelevant point of Mr. Low's personal opinion as the excuse to dodge his duty and responsibility.
That is what Million Dollar DPM Wong need to be re-Educated on.
He pulled a fast one on Mr. Low.
On the contrary however, the personal opinion of Wong Kan Seng can be called into question by Mr. Low, simply because he is the DMP and an decision maker in MHA and Cabinet. Mr. Low is none of that. The personal opinion of a decision maker DOES MATTER. The personal opinion of a Check & Balance questioner on behalf of Singaporean tax payer in the parliament does not constitute to any valid excuse for a minister to dodge a very serious question of public suspicion, regarding a prisoner's live and death, if Mas Selamat Ke-Lari was indeed dead by unlawful cause some culprits may need to face death penalty.
This is important to Wong Kan Seng, because his personal liability in this case could extend beyond costing him his million dollar job. He don't seem to know the seriousness of matter at all, he don't fit his titles and appointment. He need to be re-educated, and I hope Mr. Low please kindly deliver this education on to Wong for our people of Singapore.
I also witnessed from the gallery, that Miss Silvia Lim NCMP of Workers' Party threw a question on Wong Kan Seng which got his jaws dropped and mouth opened big, and his face looked like some one had just whacked his head with the Parliamentary Mace. :-)
It was Miss Lim's mentioning of an ISD officer had suspiciously gone missing after the escape of Mas Selamat Ke-Lari that got Wong Kan Seng stunted for 2 seconds, which his jaws dropped. He said "huh!" and then mumbled something softly that I could not make out.
Wong Kan Seng got away from that one too, by simply saying that he would not comment on rumors.
I believe that Miss Silvia Lim is law trained person. She could have used lawyers' cross examination technique to fix Wong Kan Seng. Just question confidently and demand for a yes or no reply, on the simple fact that is any ISD officer found missing from duty or evading investigation after the JI fled. Wong will be strictly liable to put a factual answer to such a question.
